The name "Divide & Conquer"
stems from the unique fact that unlike other adventure races, teams
divide up the race, with just one athlete competing at a time in
a relay format.
The Red Bull Divide & Conquer course runs
in the shadows of the Continental Divide, sending teams throughout
the Animas River Valley and its surrounding peaks between Silverton
and Durango Mountain Resort (formerly Purgatory). Due to the rich
mining heritage of the area, team members will pass a chunk of silver
to one another as they make their exchanges. The area is home to a
higher concentration of "fourteeners" (14,000 foot peaks)
than anywhere in North America.
Note: In the event of extreme weather, high
water, or other unsafe conditions on the course, the event or any
discipline section, may be delayed, shortened or canceled.
Red Bull Divide & Conquer is an open, co-ed competition to athletes
in all four disciplines (kayak, trail run, mountain bike, paraglide).
That is, your team may be all men, all women, co-ed, it doesn't matter.
The fastest team, regardless of sex, wins. Period. Each leg consists
of extremely challenging, expert-only terrain.
In order to assure a safe field for everyone, entrants must meet
all criteria for gear and references. See
rules for more details »
