MOUNTAIN BIKERS
will face a 27 mile course, starting on the banks of the Animas
at Rockwood. From the valley floor, taking the silver from
the kayakers, bikers will face a massive climb of 3,000 feet
in just 4 miles. They will then traverse a rolling singletrack
course meandering north along the back of Hermosa Cliffs,
before descending down the face of Durango Mountain Resort
(formerly Purgatory) to the finish. Total elevation gain is
about 7,000 feet. The course will require a balance of technical
know-how and endurance.
Fastest individual split time in Mountain Biking, regardless of team finish, wins a $500 award and a special trophy presented by Red Bull Divide & Conquer and Bike Magazine.
